Some of the messages you'll find will have information on items, events or other content that is available later in the levels, possibly affecting your branch choice. It is still work in progress and will stay so for a long time, I decided to jump in now that master traits are implemented, I don't know how desolate it was before, at the current state I find it quite fun.Jupiter Hell 0.9.8 "Message" is live! The four major features of this version are the terminal messages (and their Journal storage!), intermission screens, buffed AV items and improved exotic weapons! See for yourself!Īpart from being a lore source, this is also the first stage of Jupiter Hell's take on "quests".

health overcharge does not dissapate with time, it only vanishes once you leave the level. special levels are in, some are named after special levels from DRL, but are usually much different, still I avoided the Limbo the first time I saw the lift, next time I decided to go as at least it's not Mortuary. there equivalents for most DRL enemies, but no bosses yet, except Summoner at the end (archvile equivalent?) more different basic guns and ammo types helmets and boots are yet to be implemented CRI marines and other enemies will fight eachother, coming upon the scene of a massacre means free ammo challanges are implemented but some are reworked (Angel of Carnage is now a rocket launcher run), more coming in the future, they can be now done on Easy as well combat system is changed somewhat, but I groked it in couple of playthroughs, don't miss mouse anymore Nightmare enemies are replaced with Exalted, a buffed enemies with one special attribute, it can be armor, accuracy, speed or unstable (which can end hillariously if you eliminate them at distance or tragic if they close in) uniques are gradually introduced, combat pistol is regular occurence, Jackhammer saved my ass on one of the playthroughs

lack of assemblies is for now compensated with advanced weapons, which have special attributes, including inflicting poison, chill, bleeding or burning there no assemblies yet, you can upgrade the weapons with mods but it's basic, so Whizkid is useless for now, unless you find more of those rare special mods, for your ultra barbed, toxic, molten, vampiric gun traits are implemented and there will be more in the future, probably also rebalance, unique class traits start at basic

but supply is not equal for all ammo types throughout the game, so in my experience, it's not good idea to get too attached to certain weapons.Īlso soundtrack in the Beyond area can be a bit creepy.Īs of now, the game is still work in progress though and it will remain so for quite some time, here are Kornel's major long term goals: There is greater variety of basic guns and two new ammo types. Shotgun that sets enemies on fire with Army of Darkness master trait is evil, pure and simple. Gear modding is still rather basic, assemblies are still a future goal, but you can find weapons and armor with special attributes, especially in the special levels. So far there are four areas with five levels plus special and finish level on the main branch, but you can take the alternate branches where composition of enemy forces is different and more in line with your loadout and/or character build. You can carry 2-4 weapons, but only one armor, no spares in storage. There are 12 storage spaces, but you can upgrade it with traits and the backpack, also some things like small medpacks and hand grenades stack. The unique traits for all three classes start at first level now, so difference in playing them is bigger than in DRL, with Master Traits having three levels. Most of it is similar to DRL, but mouse support and diagonal movement are gone and won't be making a comeback, evasion is generated by any movement and cover can be utilized by both you and the enemies.

While many features are still missing and will be gradually added as Kornel is working on them, the core of the game is here and it is good. The game has been in Early Access since the Autumn and the last update implemented the Master Traits, so contrary to my usually attitude about Early Access I decided to dive in. With mod permission I have an update for the thread.
